POST FALLS — Dylan Lovett scored 9 of her 13 points in the fourth quarter for the Post Falls Trojans, which trailed by 12 points in the second quarter, then led by 12 in the fourth before holding on for a 59-54 nonleague win over the Lewis and Clark Tigers on Saturday at The Arena.

Ali Carpenter led Post Falls (10-7) with 15 points. Sophomore reserves Hanna Christensen and Kaysha Walton each added seven points for the Trojans.

“Hanna and Kaysha came off the bench and gave us some good minutes in the second half,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said.

Andie Zylak scored 24 points, and Macie Grant hit four 3-pointers and added 17 for Lewis and Clark (5-7). She hit three of the Tigers’ five 3s in the first half. Post Falls held LC to just one trey in the second half.

“Their point guard (Zylak) was breaking us down off the dribble,” Allert said. “In the first half she was scoring and getting everybody else shots too. Dylan did a good job of guarding her in the second half.”

Post Falls travels to Coeur d’Alene on Thursday for a 5A Inland Empire League game.

PRIEST RIVER — Taryn Soumas scored 13 of her 20 points in the first quarter of the Intermountain League game as the visiting Tigers beat the Spartans in the Battle of the Buck spirit game.

Soumas made four 3-pointers, three in the first quarter for Timberlake (11-4, 2-0 IML), which hit 10 3s in the game. Brooke Jessen scored 16 of her game-high 21 points in the first half for the Tigers.

“We stayed real disciplined on defense the whole game,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “We did a good job moving the ball, and our shot selection was great.”

Karina Sande and Taylor Suko each hit two 3s for Timberlake, which visits Kellogg on Thursday in IML play.

Karah Fink scored eight points for Priest River (3-8, 0-2).

“For us it’s pick your poison,” Priest River coach Gary Stewart said. “We double all-league post Brooke Jessen but then Timberlake does not miss an open 3-pointer. We change defense to focus on the perimeter and Brooke takes control inside.”
