LAKE STEVENS — Moses Lake fell just a half a point behind host Lake Stevens and finished fifth overall at the Viking Invite
Moses Lake totaled 178 points; tournament winner Tahoma scored 213.5 points.
Jonathan Tanguma continued his stellar season with a first-place finish in the 113-pound weight class. Tanguma outlasted Jarret Sharp of Mt. Spokane 10-9 in the semifinals and then beat Jacob Hubby of Lake Stevens 6-1 for the championship.
Hunter White (132) and Cruz Vasquez (160) were tournament runners-up. White’s finals match against Orting’s Conor Goucher was as close as it could be, finishing in a 1-0 decision. Vasquez was beaten by Camas’ Gideon Malychewski in the finals 6-2.
Max Zamora lost in the 145-pound semifinals to Mt. Spokane’s Ky Haney in overtime 3-1. Zamora rallied to beat teammate Lerenz Thomas and Olson Anderson of Orting to place third.
Moses Lake finishes its regular-season dual schedule this week, hosting West Valley on Thursday and Lake Stevens on Friday.
