This is a young team starting to gel.

The Clark Fork Lady Mountain Cats continued their winning ways with two big wins over the weekend.

Friday night they took on the Valley Christian Lady Eagles in Superior and came away with a convincing 53-22 win.

The Lady Cats started strong and kept their signature pressure defense cranked throughout the game. They held the Lady Eagles to single digit scores in each of the first three quarters on the way to their 7th win of the season.

Clark Fork opened the game with the usual defensive flurry that has aided them all year under the guidance of head coach Jeff Schultz. At the end of the first quarter they were in front 11-5, then held the Eagles to just two points in the second quarter to go up 27-7 at the half.

Eight Lady Mountain Cats scored during the game, paced by 10 each from sophomores Sorran Reese and Zoe Kelsey.

The Clark Fork defense was almost as stingy in the third quarter, limiting Valley Christian to four points while scoring 13 to boost their lead to 50-11 with one quarter to go.

Saturday night in Darby, Clark Fork once again surged ahead early, holding a 16-5 advantage at the end of one. They added five more points to their lead in the second quarter as their defense held Darby to two points, giving the Lady Mountain Cats a 23-7 halftime edge.

Darby began to solve the Cats defense in the third quarter when they rallied to outscore Clark Fork 19-9 and trim the lead to 32-26 heading into the final quarter.

However, the Cats fought off that rally, outscoring the Lady Tigers 12-9 in the last frame to pull out a 44-35 victory.

The two wins lifted the Lady Mountain Cats record to 7-3 for the year.

Clark Fork travels to Thompson Falls Thursday, then returns home for a game with Dummond Saturday evening.
