Prep roundup: Ephrata wrestling beats Royal in non-league dual

ROYAL CITY — Ephrata accepted six forfeits, won four matches and beat Royal in a non-league dual meet 57-21.
Top-ranked 195-pounder Mac Laird pinned Jack Mejia of Royal. Tigers Kevin Pelayo (220) and Lucas Tucker (285) also won by fall.
Carter Mills edged Royal’s Benjamin Bustos 4-2 at 182 pounds.
The Knights were able to pick up wins at 132, 138, 145 and 170 pounds.
Dominic Martinez, ranked fourth at 138 pounds, pinned Kelvin Sager. Vidal Abundiz (132) and Kaleb Hernandez (145) also won by fall. Lorenzo Myrick outlasted Ephrata’s Brian Olivera 10-6.
Ephrata hosts rival Quincy on Thursday at 7 p.m. Royal travels to the Dream Duals in Spokane this weekend.
Othello 57, Grandview 18
GRANDVIEW — Isaiah Perez pinned Martin Garcia in the first round, highlighting a dominant win for Othello against Grandview 57-18.
The Greyhounds forfeited four matches and Othello won six more. Josiah Barrera (120), Kyler Freeman (138), Jaxon Rocha (145) and Nathan Garza (160) also won by fall.
Othello hosts Prosser Thursday at 7 p.m.
Quincy splits double dual
TOPPENISH — Quincy split a double dual, losing to host Toppenish 72-6 and beating East Valley 45-36.
The Jacks rallied from a 30-6 deficit against the Red Devils. A pin by Diego Diaz and four forfeits allowed Quincy to tie the dual 36-36.
Sergio Cordova beat Sean Steinmetz 8-2 in the 195-pound match and Quincy accepted a forfeit at 220 pounds to secure the win.
The state’s top team sprinted to a 66-0 lead over Quincy. Mykenzi Realme was able to pin Josh Luna in the first round of the 182-pound match to help the Jacks avoid a shutout.
Quincy heads to Ephrata for a rivalry dual on Thursday.
Boys basketball
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 64, Tekoa-Rosalia 41
RITZVILLE — Spencer Gering drilled five 3-pointers and Lind-Ritzville/Sprague beat Tekoa-Rosalia 64-41.
Gering ended with 17 points and Austin Thompson had 13 to pace the Broncos.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 59, Valley Christian 44
COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline rode a 13-point advantage after the first quarter to a 59-44 win against Valley Christian.
Reece Isaak scored 19 points and Chase Gerard added 15.
Girls basketball
Moses Lake Christian 64, Entiat 37
ENTIAT — Moses Lake Christian improved its league record to 4-0 with a win at Entiat 64-37.
The Lions pulled away with a 27-5 second quarter.
Kali Kast led all scorers with 19 points. Mckenna Meise and Deana Gulenko had 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Connell 62, Othello 40
OTHELLO — Othello fell at home in a non-league game against Connell 62-40.
Ashley Perez scored a team-high 12 points; Analee Coronado and Maciah Tovar added nine points apiece.
The Huskies return to Central Washington Athletic Conference play Saturday at home against Prosser.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 67, Tekoa-Rosalia 19
RITZVILLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague led 39-12 at halftime and beat Tekoa-Rosalia 67-19.
The Timberwolves scored at most seven points in a quarter, which came in the first.
Dakota Killian and Janaye Wilkie paced the Broncos with 12 points each. Taylor Galbreath scored 11 points and Eliza Galbreath had 10.
Girls bowling
Moses Lake 3, Sunnyside 1
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake moved back to .500 in the Columbia Basin Big Nine after beating Sunnyside 3-1.
Kylee Christie’s 170 pins led the Chiefs to a 673-540 victory in the first game. Kylee Pardee and Angelina Liebrecht added 134 and 133 pins, respectively.
Haley Rogers had the highest pin total for the Chiefs in Game 2, totaling 165. Moses Lake also won the game 638-581 and won the match with a 137-103 advantage in the first baker game.
Sunnyside took the second baker game 119-96.
