KELLOGG — Sandpoint boys basketball boys suffered a 46-42 loss to Kellogg on Tuesday night. The victory gives the Wildcats a season sweep of the Bulldogs.
It was a bit of a let down after Sandpoint got a huge win over 5A Lewiston on Monday night.
Head coach Wade Engelson said he told his team that they have to be able to transition from a big victory to the next opponent and they didn’t Tuesday.
“Other teams are going to be ready for us and Kellogg was,” he said. “They competed, they got after us and we didn’t rise to the challenge.”
Sandpoint only scored 3 points in the first quarter and 20 through three quarters, but the Bulldogs fought back to close the deficit to one in the fourth quarter. The problem was it was too little, too late.
“The story when we don’t play well is we turn the ball over,” Engelson said, “and don’t execute our stuff and when we do that we’re going to struggle and we did that in abundance tonight. I just have to do a better job coaching.”
Ryan Roos led the team with 13 points.
