At Arlee, the visiting Bulldogs and the host Warriors clashed in a classic cross county Rez roundball rivalry wrangle that would stretch an extra period before the dust would settle. Arlee was nursing a five point lead with a minute and change remaining, but Mission was able to close the gap with solid free throw shooting from the charity stripe to force the extra frame.

During the overtime period, both teams scored a lone deuce with free throw shooting factoring into the outcome. The Warriors would net 5-9 and Mission 9-10 from the charity stripe to account for the differential. Zoran LaFrombois swished a pristine half dozen, while Jedi Christy tallied a tandem.

Leading scorers for both sides scored new varsity career highs. Mission’s LaFrombois reset his pinnacle to 27 from a pair of previous 19s, while Arlee’s Cody Tanner anted up a deuce to 26 from a pair of previous career highs of two dozen.

Earlier in the week, the Warriors hosted the Eagles of Two Eagle River in a match between former Class C county rivals before Arlee shifted up to the Class B ranks this season.

Warrior Billy Fisher led all scorers with a new varsity career high 26. Eagles Anthony Charlo and Michael Brown collaborated on 30 points to offset Fisher, but the margin of separation would be shaped by the remainder of the rosters.

Arlee travels to Loyola to engage the State B runnerup Rams on Thursday, January 23, while the Mission boys host twice defending State B champion Bigfork on Friday, January 24.
