Prep roundup: Moses Lake girls bowling needs tiebreaker win to reach districts

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake’s path to the District 6 Championships got a little more difficult Tuesday after a 3-2 loss against Eisenhower.
The Chiefs lost the first two games, but won both baker games. The match was decided on total pins and the Cadets had 64 more to earn the win. The loss dropped Moses Lake to 6-6 in the Columbia Basin Big Nine and into a tie for fourth place with West Valley.
The top four teams advance to districts so the Chiefs and Rams will face off one more time today at Minda Lanes. Both teams split the two regular-season meetings, with each home team winning.
Against Eisenhower, Haley Rogers totaled 153 pins to lead Moses Lake in the first game. Eisenhower was able to nab the first game 695-641. Rogers continued her big day with 204 pins in the second game and Kylee Christie added 179. However, the Cadets took a 2-0 lead 703-664. Moses Lake rallied to win the baker games 168-145 and 130-124.
Boys wrestling
Ephrata 43, Wapato 33
WAPATO — Ephrata used bonus pin points to outlast Wapato 43-33.
The Tigers won five matches by fall and received one forfeit. Top-ranked 220-pounder Mac Laird won by major decision against Christian Longtimesleeping 9-1.
Hudson Sager, Kelvin Sager, Brian Olivera, Octavio Placido and Elijah Ahrend pinned their opponents.
Othello 39, Quincy 24
QUINCY — Othello trailed briefly but beat Quincy 39-24.
Othello heavyweight Isaiah Perez won by fall in the first round and Arturo Solario won by major decision 19-7.
Mykenzi Realme picked up a major decision victory for the Jacks.
Girls basketball
Moses Lake Christian 47, Wilson Creek 29
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Christian had three double-digit scorers and beat Wilson Creek 47-29.
Kali Kast led the Lions with a game-high 16 points. Deana Gulenko and Ali Stanley added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Anissa Odorizzi led Wilson Creek with 13 points.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 54, Reardan 28
RITZVILLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague held Reardan to four first-half points and won 54-28.
The Broncos led 24-4 at halftime.
Dakota Killian scored 12 points and Eliza Galbreath had 10.
Royal 50, Goldendale 23
GOLDENDALE — Royal broke a mini two-game skid with a 50-23 win at Goldendale.
The Knights return to SCAC East play Friday against River View at home.
Boys basketball
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 63, Reardan 51
RITZVILLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague rode a 14-5 first-quarter advantage and beat Reardan 63-51.
Austin Thompson scored 23 points and Spencer Gering had 14.
Royal 85, Goldendale 74
GOLDENDALE — Royal made it two consecutive wins after beating Goldendale 85-74.
The Knights host River View on Friday.

Local athletes play in Columbia Basin series senior all-star baseball game
MOSES LAKE — The Sports Council and All-State Baseball announced in a press release that they are hosting the sixth annual Columbia Basin Series Senior All-Star Baseball Game presented by Central Industrial Sales. This annual showcase brings together standout seniors and celebrates the accomplishments of student-athletes from throughout the region. The game will be between some of the top graduating baseball players from across the Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities regions. The Yakima Valley team will consist of Moses Lake’s Noah Hernandez and Othello’s RJay Garza, Quade Gonzalez IV and Aiden Garza while being coached by Othello’s Head Coach Sonny Garza.
Wildcats qualify 11 for Outdoor Championships
INDIANAPOLIS – Central Washington University Track and Field put out a statement Tuesday to announce that 11 student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships running from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 in Welch Stadium at Emporia State University. Eight female track and field student-athletes qualified. Layla Fields, Zoe Gonzales, and Ashlyn Nielsen all qualified as part of the 4x100m relay team while Donna Marie Harris and Carley Huber qualified as part of the 4x400m relay team. Julie Castillejo will be a relay alternative due to quick turnarounds from some individual events. Ellie DeGroot qualified as a member of the 4x400m relay team as well as for the 400m hurdles. Maliyah Gordon was a qualifier in the shot put. Elise Hopper will represent the crimson and black in four events: the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay, the 400m dash, and the 200m dash.
Wildcats athletics reveals 2026 Hall of Fame inductees
ELLENSBURG — On Monday, Central Washington athletics announced in a statement the names for the 2026 athletic Hall of Fame class. Jean and Joe Adams (Spirit of Central), Catie Fry (Volleyball), Zak Hill (Football), and Dr. Richard Roux (Meritorious Service).
