The Columbia Falls girls basketball team came away with three quality wins in the past seven days, downing Flathead at home 48-35 Tuesday and Hamilton on the road Saturday 56-32. On Tuesday they won a come-from-behind thriller against Ronan 58-54.

Josie Windauer had the hot hand against the Bravettes, with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Wildkats. LaKia Hill had 11 and Hannah Schweikert had 8.

Flathead led 12-9 after the first, but the Kats outscored Flathead 16-6 in the second quarter to pull away. Flathead had just 3 points in the fourth.

Against Hamilton on the road, Maddie Robison, Schweikert and Windauer each scored 13 points as the Kats overcame a slow start to pummel the Lady Broncs.

The Wildkats only had 6 points in the first stanza, but the Kats had 19 in the second and held Hamilton to just 12 points in the entire second half.

“The big improvement (in both games) is that we had the lead in the fourth and did a much better job of moving the basketball,” coach Cary Finberg said.

There were some notable stats from the games. Hill at the point had seven assists in both games. Graceanne Sevesind had five rebounds in both games. Maddie Robison had eight steals against the Broncs and Windauer had a career high five assists against Hamilton to add to her stellar week of scoring and rebounding.

“She’s really starting to assert herself,” and play better in all aspects of the game, Finberg noted.

Against Ronan the girls were down 46-28 third quarter, but rallied for the win. Hannah Schweikert hit a flurry of shots in the fourth and led the team with 17. Josie Windauer kept the squad in the game through the first half and had 11. LaKia Hill had 13. Maddie Robison had 15 points and 11 boards and a key steal in the fourth that helped put the Kats on top. The girls face Whitefish at home Friday on the back end of the doubleheader with the boys. The game has a scheduled start of 7:30 p.m. They then face Corvallis at home Saturday at 4 p.m.
