Maidens earn split in conference clashes

This past weekend, the Ronan Maidens played a pair of key conference matches on the road, falling to top five ranked Browning, followed up by a victory over the Lady Loggers at Libby.

The last time the Maidens faced the Lady Indians, Ronan held the lead through three quarters before Browning culminated a rally. This time around, no Maidens would score in double figures as the Lady Indians dictated the tempo as they ran their offense. Home court loomed large in both meetings. The prospect exists of a potential third clash materializing during the postseason dependent upon seeding, only that one would take place in a more neutral setting with higher stakes.

At Libby, the Maidens benefitted from a two pronged attack of a double J offense as Jaleigh Gatch and Jaylea Lunceford combined for two dozen.

The Maidens travel to Pablo this Friday for round two of the Rez roundball rivalry wrangle with Polson at the Joe McDonald Health & Wellness Center (SKC gym).

Charlo battles back from the brink, punches ticket to state

At Churchill for the Western C Divisional hosted by Manhattan Christian, the Charlo Lady Vikings would be tripped up in the opening round, regrouped, then reeled off four straight to extend their season another week.

Warriors down Loyola, edged in overtime

At Missoula, visiting Arlee rallied from a two possession halftime deficit to knot the contest at 63 apiece. The Warriors had possession of the ball during the waning seconds of regulation, but couldn’t connect with their shot, thereby forcing the extra period. Thereafter, Cody Tanner would net a deuce and 3-4 from the charity stripe. But Ram free throw conversion, capped by a late deuce by Parker Pratt, would eek out the extra frame contest in favor of the host team.

Bucs buckle against Broncs in Frenchtown

At Frenchtown, the visiting Pirates intended to play a close contest much like their earlier encounter, but the host Broncs were better prepared for a quicker start this time around. Although the Pirates held the two leading scorers for the Broncs below their per game average, Frenchtown compensated by spreading the wealth around as well as still placed a trio in double figures to counter Polson lead scorers. Both teams could yet find themselves squaring off yet again during the postseason.
