EASTON — Moses Lake Christian maintained its first-place spot in the Central Washington B (CWB) league with a win at Easton 66-38.

Deana Gulenko led the Lions with 15 points. Aspen Merkle connected from long range four times and totaled 14 points. Kali Kast chipped in 12 points and eight assists.

Moses Lake Christian is now 7-1 in its league with four games left in the regular season. The Lions’ most important upcoming game is a Feb. 3 showdown with second-place Riverside Christian in Moses Lake.

The Lions beat the Crusaders in Yakima 42-31 on Jan. 17.

In other CWB results, Riverside Christian beat Wilson Creek 49-41 to keep pace with Moses Lake Christian.

Soap Lake girls basketball lost to Lake Roosevelt 70-17 in Central Washington 2B league action. The Soap Lake boys lost to Lake Roosevelt 89-28.

Toppenish 59, Ephrata 15

EPHRATA — Toppenish continued its romp through the regular season with a 59-15 win at Ephrata.

Mac Laird pinned Damian Gama at 195 pounds and Kevin Pelayo edged Rocco Clark 3-2 at 220 pounds for the Tigers’ two wins. Ephrata also received a forfeit at 106 pounds.

The Wildcats finished their Central Washington Athletic Conference dual schedule 9-0, allowing at most 18 points to Othello and Selah throughout the regular season.

Ellensburg 37, Quincy 33

QUINCY — Lorenzo Gonzalez pinned Kian Fox at 170 pounds and Ellensburg outlasted Quincy 37-33.

The Jacks took a 33-31 lead into the final match after consecutive pins from Oswaldo Perez and Alex Bonilla erased a 31-21 deficit.

The most contested match was at 182 pounds between Quincy’s Mykenzi Realme and Ellensburg’s Henry Reinhart. Eighth-ranked Reinhart outlasted fifth-ranked Realme 2-1.

Local athletes play in Columbia Basin series senior all-star baseball game

MOSES LAKE — The Sports Council and All-State Baseball announced in a press release that they are hosting the sixth annual Columbia Basin Series Senior All-Star Baseball Game presented by Central Industrial Sales. This annual showcase brings together standout seniors and celebrates the accomplishments of student-athletes from throughout the region. The game will be between some of the top graduating baseball players from across the Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities regions. The Yakima Valley team will consist of Moses Lake’s Noah Hernandez and Othello’s RJay Garza, Quade Gonzalez IV and Aiden Garza while being coached by Othello’s Head Coach Sonny Garza.

Wildcats qualify 11 for Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Washington University Track and Field put out a statement Tuesday to announce that 11 student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships running from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 in Welch Stadium at Emporia State University. Eight female track and field student-athletes qualified. Layla Fields, Zoe Gonzales, and Ashlyn Nielsen all qualified as part of the 4x100m relay team while Donna Marie Harris and Carley Huber qualified as part of the 4x400m relay team. Julie Castillejo will be a relay alternative due to quick turnarounds from some individual events. Ellie DeGroot qualified as a member of the 4x400m relay team as well as for the 400m hurdles. Maliyah Gordon was a qualifier in the shot put. Elise Hopper will represent the crimson and black in four events: the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay, the 400m dash, and the 200m dash.

ELLENSBURG — On Monday, Central Washington athletics announced in a statement the names for the 2026 athletic Hall of Fame class. Jean and Joe Adams (Spirit of Central), Catie Fry (Volleyball), Zak Hill (Football), and Dr. Richard Roux (Meritorious Service).
