SPOKANE — Grant and Adams counties were named in a fire restriction order issued by the Bureau of Land Management Spokane District for public lands administered by the BLM and the Bureau of Reclamation in Eastern Washington.

The order goes into effect July 3 at 12:01 a.m., for Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla, Whitman and Yakima.

The release states that motorists should take caution on roads or trails with high grass and dry vegetation. The public is also asked to not bring fireworks or exploding targets onto public lands at any time.

The BLM stated that campfires are allowed in certain places and circumstances, like inside steel rings at certain campgrounds, and that the public is asked to ensure any campfires are extinguished and cold before departing.
