NAPLES — A Washington state man was killed when the log truck he was driving left U.S. 95 near Naples, according to Idaho State Police.

Troy D. Armstrong, 54, of Kennewick, Wash., was northbound about 10:54 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 95 near milepost 496 south of Naples near Stampede Lake in a 2005 Kenworth loaded log truck. Armstrong left the roadway, entering the northbound ditch, striking a power pole, overturning and losing his load of logs onto the highway, Idaho State Police said in a press release. Armstrong’s vehicle continued up the embankment coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Armstrong succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Armstrong was wearing his seatbelt.

The highway was partially blocked for more than three hours, with crews on scene working to remove the logs and vehicle from the roadway through the afternoon.

Next of kin has been notified. The crash investigation is continuing.
