The Sanders County Sheriff’s Office recently announced the arrests of five people involved in a series of storage unit and car break-ins in the Hot Springs area.

The Sheriff’s Office refused to release names of those arrested, but said other arrests in relation to the break-ins were anticipated.

Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Hot Springs and Plains police departments and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms served two search warrants and seized several items. They are trying to identify the owners and are asking the public to check their storage units to see if they have been broken into.

Authorities said the accused have been cutting locks of storage units and placing new locks on them to cover up the crimes.

People who have been theft victims are asked to make a list of stolen property and the value, then contact Sheriff’s Office Detective Martin Spring at 406-827-3584, ext. 3, to make arrangements to view the stolen property and determine ownership.
