Lavender Farm Days extended with social distancing

MOSES LAKE — Tiffany and Jeremy Quilter of Columbia Plateau Lavender began their Lavender Farm Days event this year by welcoming visitors Thursday.

The Quilters started the event last year, inviting anyone interested to come out to their lavender farm south of Moses Lake, stroll among the flower rows and leave with a bundle of fresh lavender. The cost per person is $10 for one, $15 for two, and $5 for any additional guests over 16 years old. Guests 16 and under can come for free, but a lavender bundle isn’t included.

“You get to see the natural environments, you get to enjoy the sunshine,” Tiffany Quilter said Thursday. “Everyone loves Moses Lake sunshine. There’s lots of bees and butterflies and all kinds of fun things to see. And the aroma in the field is amazing right now at this time of year.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Quilter said, they’ve extended the event through July 14 instead of making it just a three-day weekend like last year. She said they’re also asking people to call ahead to schedule an appointment to ensure they’re following social distancing protocols.

“I wasn’t even sure if I was going to be able to do it because of everything going on,” Quilter said. “We were going to have a big thing, with music, food vendors and stuff. But, I just decided we’re gonna wait because I don’t see this changing by July.”
