Start of fall prep sports pushed

RENTON — High school sports in the fall will not start on time this season.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced Tuesday that the organization’s executive board took action to delay the start of football and the rest of the fall sports slate.

The start of football is now scheduled to begin on Sept. 5 and the rest of fall sports can start Sept. 7. Moses Lake High School football would have played its first game of the season Sept. 4 at Ferris. Other sports like girls soccer would have started play Sept. 2.

According to the release, the executive board will make its next statement concerning the start of fall sports on July 22.
