Newport Hospital welcomes new gynecologist

NEWPORT — Newport Hospital and Health Services officially welcomed gynecologist Dr. James Vandersloot to its family of providers.
Dr. Vandersloot is a military veteran and recently retired from his Walla Walla practice after 13 years.
His gynecology practice at Newport Health Center begins June 15, and he will see patients two days a week. In addition to routine gynecology, he will also offer minor outpatient gynecology surgeries at Newport Community Hospital.
Dr. Vandersloot received his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteo-pathic Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Ports-mouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. He is a Fellow with the American College of Gynecologists and board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the National Board of Osteopathic Medicine. As a United States Navy Lieutenant Commander, Dr. Vandersloot’s early experience included staff OB/GYN practices at the United States Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, as well as the United States Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy. Dr. Vandersloot’s professional experience spans 26 years.
Dr. Vandersloot is an avid skier, with homes at Schweitzer Mountain and Spokane.
He is married to wife Regina, and they have a son, Max, who is a junior at Gonzaga University. He looks forward to practicing in Newport so that patients do not have to travel out of the area for gynecological care.
