Russell Jay Mandigo

Russell Jay Mandigo, a 48-year Newport, Wash., area resident passed to his rest on June 18, 2020. He and his twin sister, RoseAnn were born in Athens, Michigan, on April 20, 1942. He died at his home near Freeman Lake in Idaho.

He owned and ran Mandigo Construction concrete business for more than 50 years and poured thousands of yards of concrete at various places around the Northwest.

Russ’ six siblings and parents moved to to Idaho from Michigan in the fall of 1942 when he was 6 months old. He was raised on the family farm of 126 acres 5 miles from Newport.

He was preceded in death by his son, Loren Mandigo; parents, David and Julia Mandigo; sister Marie Chadwick and brother David Mandigo Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 18 years; daughters Cherie (Randy) Bierwagen, Trisha Mandigo and daughter-in-law Lisa Mandigo; grandchildren, Victoria Mandigo, Kenny Hargrave, Moriah Mandigo, Jessica Mandigo and Jonathan Mandigo; siblings, June (Harold) Ponther of College Place, Kathy (Alvin) Whitehouse of Oldtown, Wallace (Sandra) Mandigo of College Place, RoseAnn Wood of British Columbia; plus a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Russ was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by everyone who new him.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday July 19 at 3 p.m. at the Newport Seventh-day Adventist Church, 777 Lilac Lane, Newport.
