PHD: 5 new COVID cases in Bonner County

SANDPOINT — Seven new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus emerged in Bonner County on Wednesday, according to the Panhandle Health District.
The new cases bring the total number of cases in Bonner County to 87. Kootenai County has had 812 cases since the pandemic took hold this spring, while Bonner County has tallied 87. Benewah County has had 22 cases and Shoshone County has had 14 cases, according to PHD.
Boundary County has counted eight cases and another 14 cases involve people whose primary county of residency is undetermined.
All told, the region has amassed 957 cases in the five northern counties since the outbreak started.
Kootenai County has 509 active cases and one fatality, Panhandle Health said in a post to its Facebook page on Wednesday. Bonner County and Shoshone counties have 57 and 13 active cases, respectively. Seven of Boundary County’s cases remain active and Benewah County has four active cases, PHD said. Four of the undetermined cases remain active as well.
The virus has caused 31 hospitalizations, although only eight people remain hospitalized as of Wednesday, according to PHD. The district said 363 Panhandle residents are no longer being monitored.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare reported 727 new confirmed or probable cases of the virus, which causes COVID-19. There have been 12,445 cases and 110 deaths since the outbreak began, according to Health & Welfare.
The Northeast Tri-County Health District in Washington state said five new cases of the virus have emerged in Stevens County, bringing the regional total to 51 confirmed cases. No new cases turned up Wednesday in Pend Oreille County, which has 13 cases. Ferry County has had four cases and one fatality, according to NETCHD.
The Montana State Department of Public Health reported 145 new cases on Wednesday, pushing the statewide total number of confirmed cases to 2,096. Lincoln County has 33 cases. Sanders County’s streak of no cases came to an end on Wednesday, when that county tallied three cases.
