First Adams County resident dies after being sickened with COVID-19

ADAMS COUNTY — An Othello man has died after becoming infected with the coronavirus, the first Adams County resident to die with COVID-19, Adams County Health District stated in a press release.

The patient, an Othello man in his late seventies, was a resident of Coventry House Assisted Living and passed away Thursday at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

The health district wrote in a press release, “Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”

Adams County communicable disease investigative staff members are following up with those who may have been in close contact with the man, according to the press release. Those with a known contact have been tested for COVID-19, asked to quarantine and are awaiting results. In addition, a disease investigation at Coventry is continuing, the health district wrote.
