PHD: 46 new cases of COVID diagnosed

SANDPOINT — No new novel coronavirus turned up in Bonner County on Wednesday, but the region added another 46 new cases, according to the Panhandle Health District.

The district said there have been 1,346 cases since the outbreak began, 1,329 of which have been confirmed through laboratory analysis. Another 17 cases are listed as probable.

Kootenai County has accrued 1,150 cases since the pandemic began, 1,139 of which are lab-confirmed. The district said 652 of the cases in Kootenai County are active and there has been one fatality. Bonner County has had 102 cases, 96 of which are lab-confirmed and 50 of which are active.

The district said all 29 of Benewah County’s cases are lab-confirmed, three of which are active.

Shoshone County has had 31 cases, all of which are lab-confirmed. The district said 27 of Shoshone County’s cases are active.

All 20 of Boundary County’s cases are lab confirmed and 18 of them are active, according to PHD.

The district said the virus has caused 52 hospitalizations and 22 people remain hospitalized on Wednesday.

The district said 593 Panhandle residents are no longer being monitored.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare reported 500 new confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19, pushing the statewide total to 16,322 cases and 135 fatalities.

The Northeast Tri-County Health District in Washington state said one new case of a confirmed coronavirus emerged in Stevens County.

There have been 82 infections since the pandemic began, 51 of which are in Stevens County. Coronavirus has claimed the life of one Stevens County resident, the district said.

Pend Oreille County has 24 confirmed cases, while Stevens County has had seven cases and one fatality. Seventeen of Pend Oreille County’s cases have been diagnosed in the last two weeks, according to the health district.

Three people within the tri-county area have been hospitalized, the district said.

The Montana State Department of Public Health said 104 confirmed infections were tallied on Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 2,813 cases. Lincoln County has 34 cases, while Sanders County has four cases, according to the state. The virus is blamed for 42 deaths in Montana.
