A routine traffic stop resulted in the discovery of 1.45 pounds of meth and 59 grams of marijuana extracts.

An Idaho State Police patrol pulled over Justin Mydland of North Dakota for swerving and straddling the center line on U.S. 95 early Sunday, July 18. The officer reported the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and performed a field sobriety test.

Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found a large plastic bag full of pre-packaged capsules of a rock-like crystal substance. The substance would later test positive for methamphetamine.

When the patrolman advised Mydland he was under arrest, Mydland fled on foot through traffic on U.S. 95. Troopers soon caught up to Mydland and apprehended him.

Officers also reportedly recovered 59 grams of marijuana and marijuana extracts, a used pipe with white residue and a hypodermic needle.

Mydland was charged with felony trafficking, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, resisting and obstructing officers. He is held in Kootenai County jail on $150,000 bond.
