Deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a suspected drowning in Lake Koocanusa, according to a July 27 press release.

Officers were alerted of a possible drowning on July 24 north of Rexford Bench on the east side of reservoir. They identified Mamadou N’Diaye, an 18-year-old male from Maryland, as the likely victim.

N’Diaye is thought to have jumped off a boat into the lake. He never resurfaced.

The sheriff’s office received assistance from the Flathead County Search and Rescue, Two Bear Air, U.S. Border Patrol and Montana Fish and Game in the search for N’Diaye. As of July 27, a body has not been recovered. The search remains ongoing, officials said.
