SANDPOINT — A skydiver was injured Sunday after being blown off course and landing on the roof of a Larch Street home.
A Selirk Fire Rescue & EMS ladder truck was used to get paramedics onto home’s roof. There were reports that the skydiver may have been impaled by a tree branch, although Bonner EMS Chief Jeff Lindsey said that report was unconfirmed on Monday.
The skydiver, whose name was not released, was taken to Sandpoint Airport and flown via Life Flight Network air ambulance to Kootenai Health. The man’s condition was not available on Monday.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m.
The adult male was among a crew of skydivers and appear to have been making jumps in the area on Saturday, according to Lindsey. The skydivers may have departed from a private airstrip north of Sandpoint, although it was unclear where they meant to land.
Lindsey said the wind was up on Sunday, which reportedly blew them away from their intended landing zone. “It sounded like everybody got blown off course,” he said.
