May 9

9:31 a.m.

Theft

A Cedar Street resident reported the theft of a 500-gallon propane tank. The tank was about 60 percent full, the victim told investigators.

11:06 a.m.

Property

A motorist reported losing a small chainsaw from the back of his pickup truck. The motorist later found the tool.

12:38 p.m.

Criminal mischief

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a youth shooting cows near Porcupine Ridge.

1:07 p.m.

Suspicious activity

Authorities received a report of squatters on Forest Service land near Pipe Creek. A tent and clothes were visible from the roadway.

1:35 p.m.

Public safety

Authorities received a report regarding a woman who regularly operates a wheelchair along U.S. Highway 2. She allegedly was towing a wagon and the individual reporting the incident wanted a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy to speak with the woman.

6:24 p.m.

Traffic violation

Montana Highway Patrol troopers arrested an unidentified individual after he took off on foot from a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 2. The man jumped the guardrail at Kootenai Falls to evade law enforcement. Authorities employed a K9 unit to capture the individual.

6:52 p.m.

Firearms

Authorities received a 911 call from an individual near Nevada Avenue reporting hearing semi-automatic rifle fire. A second call reported the same noise and offered a possible suspect. Investigating Libby police officers determined that individual lived in the county and had a personal range. Investigators were unable to locate the source of the gunshots.

May 10

5:26 a.m.

Public safety

A caller reported a visually impaired man walking along the road in dark clothing. Responding Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies gave the man a ride to a residence.

12:38 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to Mahoney Road for a report of a couple engaging in a fistfight. Both individuals denied any fighting to authorities.

1:01 p.m.

Suspicious person

A U.S. Highway 2 resident asked for a trespass against a “nosey” neighbor.

4:03 p.m.

Animal control

A Spencer Road resident requested an animal control officer for an ongoing barking dog problem.

5:16 p.m.

Suspicious person

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a report of a “strange man” heading west on U.S. Highway 2. The caller told authorities the man walked through several yards and said he lived in the woods. Deputies located the man, who said he was headed to Libby and declined a ride.

6:19 p.m.

Suspicious vehicle

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle with Arizona license plates driving through the neighborhood and stopping in alleyways. The motorist would exit and examine power poles. Responding Libby police officers determined the motorist was a contractor working for the utility company.

7:41 p.m.

Animal complaint

A Logger Lane resident reported two dogs chasing deer in the neighborhood.

7:59 p.m.

Disturbance

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Victor Perez-Guerra, 24, after responding to a disturbance on Freeman Ridge Road.

9:43 p.m.

Harassment, threat, intimidation

An East Lincoln Boulevard resident told authorities that two men were driving by his home and yelling threats and obscenities at him.

May 12

8:12 a.m.

Fire

Upon investigation, a reported fire on state land turned out to be a permitted burn.

9:34 a.m.

Criminal trespass

A Swanson Lodge Road couple met with law enforcement to take out a no trespass order on another couple that lived in the Yaak.

12:20 p.m.

Drugs, drug paraphernalia

Libby police officers responded to a 911 call from a Louisiana Avenue resident. The caller told officers that there were people on his roof. They were refusing to come down, he said. Officers later took out a warrant to search the home.
