The U.S. Forest Service, rural and city fire departments and Mineral County Fire Warden would like to remind its residents that as of June 1, 2020, the open burning season will close.

Burning permits will not be issued and no debris burning will be allowed. This comes in response to the continued concerns for the responders of the fire services regarding the COVID-19 virus.

These services are thankful to the residents for taking precautions and being careful throughout this spring season in getting debris taken care of and not requiring unnecessary responses to keep everyone safe.

Campfires are still permitted at this time as long as they are in a safe area and are not larger than the Montana statute requirement of 3x3x3 feet.
