Grace Christine (Morris) Butler, 78, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020. Christine spent her last days surrounded by her children.
Christine was born on March 22, 1942, in Flat River, Missouri to the late George Henry and Emma Arcadia (Hamblen) Morris. She was the youngest of 16 children. She was raised in and spent a significant part of her life in Missouri where she met her husband, Richard Lee Butler. They were married on Dec. 24, 1960. Their 46 years of marriage brought them eight children, 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
For many years, Christine worked locally as a housekeeper at Samaritan Hospital. There she made many friends and was well known by much of the staff. When on a public outing, not a time went by that she wasn’t recognized or approached by a member of the community who knew her from work or one of her children. Her sweet demeanor made her loved by many.
Besides her parents, siblings and husband, Christine was preceded in death by her son Timothy Wayne Butler of Port Townsend, Washington.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons and their spouses: Richard and Rose Butler of Moses Lake, Cynthia “Sissy” and Craig Williams of Moses Lake, Rebecca and Gregg Orman of Renton, Henry and Tammy Butler of Ephrata, Michelle and Joe Jesse of Moses Lake, Kim and John Forsberg III of Spokane and William and Marion Butler of Monaca, Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Christine was a selfless person; she always thought of others’ needs before her own. It is often difficult to arrive at a consensus in a large family, but the one thing her children can without a doubt agree on is that their mother deserves to be remembered and celebrated. They realize and are delighted that there are other individuals, aside from them, who would like to pay their respects to their beloved mother. Therefore, due to social gathering restrictions brought on by COVID-19, a celebration of Christine’s life will be set for a future date. The family will make an announcement once a date is determined. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.
