The Flathead Valley could see another round of severe thunderstorms tonight with high winds, the National Weather Service is warning.

The valley is still cleaning up from a severe thunderstorm that swept through region on Sunday morning, with wind gusts that were as high as 78 mph in Kila and 69 mph at the airport. It knocked out power to about half of all Flathead Electric Co-op customers.

This round of storms could also come with high winds. The storms should roll through the region from about 7 p.m. to midnight. There’s a chance of rain and thunderstorms tomorrow as well. Columbia Falls High School graduation is supposed to be outside tomorrow at the football field starting at 11 a.m. The chance of rain is 90 percent.

East of the divide, there’s a better chance for severe weather tomorrow, the Weather service said.

Then Sunday night it will get much cooler, with snow above 6,000 feet.

Glacier National Park is expected to partially reopen on Monday, but it promises to be a raw day, with rain in lower elevations and upwards of a half-foot of snow at places like Logan Pass. Highs will only be in the 40s Monday.

The weather should improve by Monday afternoon.
