OLYMPIA — Governor Jay Inslee released new guidelines for counties in Phase 2 and 3 of the “safe start” reopening plan in the case of restarting recreational sporting events in Washington.

For areas currently in Phase 2, team practices may resume, but are limited to five players or less per separate group on the field. Separate groups and players must remain five feet apart, with no contact allowed.

Fans and spectators, including family members, are not allowed on the sidelines for practices. Games are not allowed for recreational leagues during Phase 2.

Outdoor recreational activities, including camping and beaches, must be limited to five or fewer people from outside one’s own household.

For areas moving into Phase 3, teams can now resume playing games, while gatherings may not exceed 50 people. Sports complexes with multiple fields may have 50 individuals per field.

League offices must adhere to workplace reopening guidelines set forth by state officials.

These new reopening guidelines do not apply to any school-affiliated, or collegiate, sports and athletics.

Other outdoor recreational activities, such as public pools and gyms, may reopen at no more than 50 percent of full capacity. Gatherings are limited to 50 or fewer people.
