ROYAL CITY — Florentino Popoca and Stefany Rodriguez, Royal High School seniors, have been awarded the 2020 Knight Award, according to the Royal High School website. The Knight Award goes to students who demonstrate servant leadership and set an example for their fellow students.

Popoca and Rodriguez were selected this year because of their positive student leadership. They assisted with school events and activities without seeking personal recognition and without being asked. Normally, the award only goes to one student. But this year, both Popoca and Rodriguez demonstrated the qualities of the Knight Award that both students were picked. Each student will receive a Knight statuette and a $1,000 scholarship, and their name will be added to the Knight Award plaque at the high school.
