It is with great pleasure the Women Honoring Women committee awards a Lifetime Achievement Award to Judy Dabrowski — a doer, a leader, a giver and an individual who never seems to run out of energy and enthusiasm.

She never hesitates to give assistance where needed without seeking acknowledgment.

Judy grew up in Sandpoint, a farm girl at heart. No matter where she lived over the years she loved here hometown the most. She has been married for 53 years and raised two sons. For 55 years Judy has been on the Sandpoint Alumni Committee so she knows just about everyone in the community. She is an avid gardener and helps tend to their livestock.

Being active in the Lions Club has been a passion for Judy. She is a past president of the club and she works tirelessly on their community projects like “Toys for Tots”, the 4th of July parade and raising funds for the annual fireworks display. Last year she spearheaded the national Lions Organization to come to Sandpoint and work with the 6th graders. Along with her husband they place the American flags in the community on the recognized holidays and then make sure they are taken down, folded and stored.

The Community Assistance League has benefited from Judy’s enthusiasm. At Bizarre Bazaar she along with her sister, Rose, decorate the space with every changing season. She is creative and clever in her designs and the shoppers are always eager to compliment her work. As a volunteer she collects outside large donations items from the community and keeps the shop stocked with upscale merchandise. She is always up for the challenge and if she does not know how, she will grab on to it, work on it, learn about it and see it to the end.

Many who recommended Judy for this award commented that she is a kind, generous, warmhearted women who quietly serves others with dignity and compassion. Over and over she recognizes a need in a young person and quietly takes them under her wing in order to help. In her sister Rose’s words “Give Judy a job and then just get out of the way. She is a wonderful person that just doesn’t want the limelight”.

To be nominated for Woman of Wisdom, candidates must be 65 years or older. She possesses vision and achieves goals through collaboration. She exhibits a love of learning through the pursuit of knowledge by study or experience. She shows a commitment to the Bonner County community and its members, and has had a positive impact, such as in the areas of art, music, theater, dance, sports, education and service.
