CORCORAN, Calif. (AP) — A second inmate in two days has been killed at the same Central Valley prison, California corrections officials said Friday, though they said the two slayings are believed to be unrelated.

Anthony Roberson-Anderson, 30, was found Tuesday with swelling and multiple lacerations to his face and head at the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran, officials said.

He died late Thursday at an outside hospital.

Prison employees say they saw inmate Brandon Caine, 38, running from Roberson-Anderson's prone body and put him in restraints.

The victim was serving a life term for a Los Angeles County murder. The suspect was serving a 12-year robbery sentence from the same county.

Officials said there is no known connection to the slaying Wednesday at the same prison of Danny Roman, 64, a purported leader of the Mexican Mafia.

The federal government once accused Roman of running street gang operations from inside Pelican Bay State Prison, which at the time was the state's most secure lockup, by passing coded orders to his daughter.
