The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Thursday morning in the Ninepipes area.
According to Sheriff Don Bell, a man said he woke up at about 4:15 a.m. when he heard people trying to get into vehicles in the driveway at his residence.
The man said he fired a warning shot, which drew return fire from one of the three of four suspects. The man shot again toward the fleeing suspects as they left in an SUV.
It was reported the vehicle was possibly a later model Jeep or other small wheel base SUV similar to a Jeep, with a “square body design.” No color was distinguishable in the dark.
Bell said if anyone has information regarding the case, they are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office and report information to a deputy at 406-883-7301 or email lcso@lakemt.gov.
