OLDTOWN — A Newport man who was implicated in a Washington state murder in 2006 has been arrested on a warrant in Bonner County for allegedly violating the terms of his parole.
Ezra Michael Jensen was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 2. Jensen was a passenger in a vehicle which did not have a front license plate, according to court records.
Jensen was charged with felony drug possession after methamphetamine was found on him, a probable cause affidavit.
Jensen, 35, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Craig Alan Schiering, whose body was discovered in a burning pile of hay and slash near Newman Lake.
Andrew King Salmon and Christopher James Hall were also charged with murder, according to published news accounts.
Hall told investigators that Salmon fronted him a half-pound of meth that Schiering made arrangements to buy on the night he was slain, a news story by the Spokesman-Review said. Hall claimed Jensen shot Schiering in the side of the head while Schiering was driving them to a secluded location to conduct the transaction.
Jensen allegedly acknowledged that he and Hall had planned to rob Schiering of the $4,700 Schiering told Hall he would pay for the half-pound of methamphetamine, the news article said.
The no-bail warrant Jensen was arrested on alleges he violated the terms of his community custody. The warrant does not specify what conditions Jensen allegedly ran afoul of.
At the time of his arrest, Jensen told a sheriff’s deputy he had recently been released from prison and was unaware he was the subject of an outstanding warrant.
Jensen was ordered to serve 144 months, followed by 24-48 months of community custody, according to online court records in Spokane County.
