It was nearly midnight on the evening of May 19 when a Kalispell police officer responded to a call for a welfare check for a person on North Main Street.
It wasn’t long before the check turned into an arrest after the woman allegedly threw full beer bottles and a multi-tool at him and one other officer who arrived to assist.
Israel Sandra Gillette-Bulltail, 33, ended up in the Flathead County Detention Center facing a charge of assaulting a police officer.
According to the court document alleging the offense, when the first officer arrived, he approached Gillette-Bulltail and she threw a full glass bottle of beer toward him, then a grocery bag with a six-pack of beer at him. The officer avoided being hit by the beer containers.
The officer also saw a multi-tool in the accused’s hands and he ordered her to place it on the ground. Gillette-Bulltail allegedly refused to drop the tool and then reportedly threw it at both officers, according to the charging document.
Gillette-Bulltail has a criminal record. According to Montana State Prison records, she was sentenced in 2016 to seven years on two burglary counts in Yellowstone County from charges filed in 2013. She is on probation for those offenses. Her next court date in Flathead County is scheduled for Oct. 5.
