A Coeur d’Alene man who police said threw a bookshelf at his girlfriend was released from jail after being arrested last week on a warrant.

Jasen S. Coe, 40, was arrested earlier this month for domestic battery with traumatic injury in the presence of a child, a felony that carries up to 10 years in prison.

Coe failed to appear in court after posting bail a week ago and First District Magistrate Judge Robert Burton ordered a $25,000 warrant for Coe, who appeared in court after being re-arrested over the weekend.

Coe was released Monday after appearing in court and posting bail again.

A magistrate reset his next hearing within 14 days from now.

Police said they responded to a 911 call around 10 p.m. June 4 after the alleged victim said she sustained an injury to her left shoulder during an alteration with Coe.

Coe was not at the scene when police arrived.

The woman told police she and Coe had argued earlier that night. The argument escalated when Coe allegedly slapped the victim and threw a bookshelf onto the ground toward the victim..

After his arrest, Coe told police he was assaulted by the alleged victim and struck over the head with a vodka bottle. Police said Coe had a mark on his right cheekbone, above his right eyelid, and a nick on his nose.

A magistrate issued a no-contact order mandating Coe to stay away from the alleged victim and her daughter.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 6.
