OLYMPIA — State government is distributing masks to low-income residents across Washington, including more than 100,000 masks in Grant and Adams counties, according to the state’s COVID-19 Joint Information Center.
Personnel with the state’s Emergency Management Division, in partnership with the procurement team at the state Department of Enterprise Services, purchased 3.6 million cloth face masks, according to a press release. The state then set to work distributing two masks to every Washingtonian below 200% of the federal poverty level, which amounts to $52,400 annual income for a family of four.
Nearly 2.8 million of those masks have been distributed in June. The state delivers the masks to local emergency management offices, which then hand off the masks to community organizations and service providers for delivery to individuals.
In Grant County, approximately 71,800 masks are to be distributed as part of this initiative, according to the press release; in Adams County, around 45,650 masks are being sent out.
People interested in acquiring masks through this program should contact their county’s emergency manager: 509-754-2011 in Grant County or 509-488-3704 in Adams County, according to the press release.
