Customers of the Safeway in Polson will notice a fresh new store when they go for groceries next time. The store held a grand reopening June 17 to celebrate the completion of extensive remodeling that updated many services and products. New flooring, self-checkout registers, and décor greet you at the door, hinting at all the new products and services found inside.

Among many changes, customers will find extended floral, bakery, wine and meat sections, including locally caught lake trout and whitefish. New layout allowed the store to add bigger selections of produce, including a wide array of organics. The expanded deli now includes custom-made sandwiches, expanded specialty cheese selections, and even freshly made sushi.

The upgrade includes the new “drive up and go” service. Order and pay online at Safeway.com or download the “Safeway Delivery and Pick Up” App, and professional shoppers will load your groceries in your car at a conveniently reserved time without even needing to leave your vehicle. At some time in the future, they may also be able to add delivery service.

As a thank you to the community for their patience during the upgrade, Safeway offered specials and coupons during the promotion, and donated $1,000 each to Mission Valley Animal Shelter and to Boys & Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County.
