The Flathead County commissioners are attempting to fill a number of open spots on three area fire district boards.

Evergreen and Martin City each have one three-year term available through May 31, 2023.

The Olney district has two terms. One is an unexpired term through May 31, 2021. The other is a three-year term through May 31, 2023.

To serve on a board, the individual must be qualified to vote under state law, reside in the district or be a holder of title to lands within the district who presents proof of payment of taxes on the lands in the district.

Evergreen Fire Board member Jack Fallon is imploring community members to apply.

“This vacancy announcement is on its third extension,” Fallon said in an email. “For whatever reason no one is interested in being on the Evergreen Fire District Board of Trustees.

“There are many critical financial decisions being made that need community input.”

At Evergreen, meetings are at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, July 10. They should be mailed to Flathead County Commissioners, 800 South Main, Room 302, Kalispell, MT 59901. Letters of application can also be emailed to [email protected].
