GRANT COUNTY — There were three new cases of the coronavirus reported in Grant County on Tuesday — one case each in Royal City, Soap Lake and Warden — according to Grant County Health District.
Two cases previously reported by the district were found not to be residents of Grant County, so the total number of cases reported since the pandemic began increased only by one, for a total of 578.
Also on Tuesday, a GCHD chart showed that 82 percent of people diagnosed with the coronavirus in the county had presented as symptomatic, while 16 percent had reported that they had no symptoms of the disease. This appears to show that asymptomatic cases are underrepresented in current tallies, as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in May that approximately 35 percent of people infected are asymptomatic. It was unknown whether the remaining 2 percent in the county were symptomatic, according to the health district.
Fourteen people in the county infected with the virus have been hospitalized over the course of the pandemic.
Moses Lake’s total of confirmed cases rose to 167, the Mattawa area had 139 cases, and the Quincy area had 150 cases.
