Basin roundup: No. 1 Odessa boys advance to state quarterfinals

SPOKANE — Top-ranked Odessa remained undefeated and advanced to the 1B state quarterfinals after beating Oakesdale 65-32.
Ryan Moffet scored 20 points, leading three Tigers in double figures. Camden Weber scored 14 and Marcus King had 12 points.
The Tigers raced to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. Odessa will play either Almira/Coulee-Hartline or Rainier Christian on Thursday in the state quarterfinals.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 55, Sunnyside Christian 51
WENATCHEE — Almira/Coulee-Hartline downed 15th-seeded Sunnyside Christian to reach the 1B Boys Hardwood Classic, 55-51.
The Knights held a one-point lead after three quarters before the Warriors won the fourth quarter, 13-8.
Reece Isaak and Brayton Schafer combined for 35 of ACH’s 55 points; Isaak scored 21 points and Schafer had 14.
ACH opens its state tournament run Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., against Rainier Christian at the Spokane Arena.

Big Bend 8-7, Centralia 10-1
MOSES LAKE — Big Bend split a doubleheader against Centralia, losing the opener 10-8 before winning the second game 7-1.
Centralia erased a 5-1 deficit with a seven-run sixth inning to take the lead for good in Game 1.
The Vikings attempted a comeback in the ninth inning after Zach Valdez homered to bring the home team within two runs. Big Bend’s Matthew Plato also homered in the eighth inning.
Evan McLean was 3 for 5 with one RBI and one run scored. Valdez scored twice and drove in a pair on his ninth-inning blast. Wade Visker had two hits and scored once.
Vance Alvarado was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs in five innings.

Big Bend beats Mt. Hood, Olympic
RICHLAND — Big Bend scored wins over Mt. Hood, 5-4, and Olympic, 12-6, at a crossover tournament in Richland. The Vikings also lost to Clark, 12-2.
The Vikings fell behind 8-2 after three innings against the Penguins. Taryn Mathews doubled and drove in a run.

Eagles hit the pitch, fall to North Dakota on the road
CHENEY – The Eastern Washington women's soccer team couldn't find its offensive rhythm in a 4-0 loss to North Dakota, according to a statement by EWU athletics. The Eagles outshot the Fighting Hawks 19-13 and held them without a single corner kick but were unable to capitalize on their chances.

Starch Madness remains in Boise through 2031
MOSES LAKE — In a statement by the Big Sky Conference, the Starch Madness tournament will remain in Boise through 2031. The conference and Idaho’s state capital agreed to terms that keeps the annual men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in Idaho Central Arena.
