Daphine Lois Aragon, 91
Daphine Lois Aragon, 91 years young, passed away Feb. 25, 2020. She was born to Irene (Tipton) and Chester Loven in Breckenridge, Texas. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho has been her home for 45 years. She has shared that time with her husband of 60 years, Tony Aragon.
Daphine lived her life to the fullest. She wandered the world as a military wife. She worked a variety of jobs — french fry factory worker, cotton picker, waitress, roofing and carpentry apprentice for her father, and lastly, the manager of Circle K in Coeur d’Alene.
Her zest for life included competing in tournaments playing the card games hearts and pinochle. Her trophies displayed her winning skills but missed the panache in which she won and the smile on her face.
Although the last seven and a half years of her life were centered around her dialysis schedule, her family was her center. She loved visits and happy phone calls. When asked how she was doing, it was always, “Finer than a frog’s hair!”
She was known for her quick wit and hand, her strong and saucy attitude, friendship cake and big heart. Her active lifestyle that once included 4H leather working, crocheting and jam making did not diminish when her health put restriction on her mobility. She knitted 2,347 hats for cancer patients, newborns and the homeless during her last five years of dialysis.
She was truly loved and will be sorely missed. The family that preceded her in death were her daughters Jeannie and Wanda and son, Donald. Surviving her are her last sibling, “Willie” of Salem, Ore.; her husband of 60 years, Tony; and daughters Donna (Robert), Barbara (Thor) and Cindy (Rob); sons, Robert (Linda), Marty (Anna), Tony and Michael (Pat); 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and a sprinkling of great-great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday March 6, 2020, at Yates Funeral Home- Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814, followed by a service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Interment will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
