MOSES LAKE — The Columbia Basin K9s organization will gather along Pioneer Way around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, starting from I-90 and stretching towards downtown, in honor of K9 Chief’s return to Moses Lake. The public is invited to participate in welcoming Chief home.

Chief was shot through his left eye in the line of duty last Friday, during a police chase in which the shooter was killed by Chief’s handler, Officer Nick Stewart. That eye was scheduled to be removed during surgery Tuesday, and if recovery is successful, Chief is expected to be quickly returning to Moses Lake.

Police Captain Mike Williams noted Tuesday that Chief’s return time is subject to change, but said he believed it would likely be around 12:30 p.m.
