WARDEN — The city of Warden has set the date for its annual spring clean-up, according to a regular city council meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25. This year, spring clean-up will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 3 and 4. The city of Warden works with Consolidated Disposal to bring the clean-up event each year.

In other business, the council approved a regulation allowing cryptocurrency type businesses to locate in industrial zones. According to Kriss Shuler, Warden city clerk, the new regulation required a land use change that had to go to the state for a 60-day comment period.

The council also approved the one-year extension of a lease on a piece of ground owned by the city. The farmer leasing the field grows hay there.

“For us, it’s weed control,” Shuler said.

Shuler told the council that work on Lift Station No. 4 is on schedule, with some portions being ahead of schedule. She has also gotten confirmation that the requested easement from the Bureau of Reclamation for Lift Station No. 2 is sitting on someone’s desk and will be processed as soon as possible.

Shuler also reported that the Washington State Department of Transportation is offering street striping services. She intends to bring more information to the council at the next meeting. If the city takes advantage of the opportunity from WSDOT, it will pay the state per the type of line painted.

Public Works Director Don Edson reported that his crews are working on trimming trees, fixing street signs and doing weed control.
