Tammy Lee Bocook (Cleveland), 59

Our beloved Tammy Lee Bocook (formerly Cleveland), age 59, passed away peacefully at her childhood home in Post Falls, surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends, on Monday, March 2, 2020.

Her celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene, on Saturday, March 7, 2020. There will be a short message, prayer and testimonies, and laughter and tears as we remember the Tammy we all knew and treasured. A less formal reception will follow (not a potluck, just bring yourself) in the fellowship hall there at the church. We ask all who knew and loved this woman to please come and share your condolences, funny stories and pictures.

Tammy was born Jan. 16, 1961, at what was then Kootenai Hospital, in Coeur d’Alene, to George and Beulah Cleveland. She was the third of their three children — all girls — so she was especially precious; this actually continued throughout her entire life!

As an adult, Tammy was determined to live life to the fullest. She was brave, independent, funny and loved to party. She began to travel extensively — Florida, Nevada, Alaska and Hawaii, just to name a few states she lived in during different seasons of her life. She was a hard worker, always trying different positions and fields, and she excelled at almost anything she tried. But she says the best thing she ever accomplished was to have her son, Brad Cleveland, of whom she was so very, very proud. And the happiest we ever saw her was during the last 20-some years of her life, after she met and married her beloved husband, Frankie, the man she described as her soulmate and her other half.

They spent their 20 wonderful years together settled in the Port Townsend, Wash., area. Frankie’s job as an electrician and Tammy’s culinary career allowed them to finally find, build and move into their dream home, where they spent their days with their precious dogs, her baking, sewing and crafting, motorcycles rides on the beach roads, and entertaining lots of friends and family. Tammy was a wonderful mother figure to Frankie’s previous children, and an awesome grandma as well!

Though a life as filled with love and laughter should be cut short at such a young age seems so tragically unfair, we are so grateful for those last years that Tammy was able to experience as much joy as she did, and we will all remain forever grateful to have had her in our lives.

Tammy was preceded in death by her sister, Gwen Cleveland; her parents George Cleveland and Beulah DeMarre; and her great-grandparents Simmie and Wilma DeMarre.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Frankie Bocook, and his children Kati, Frankie Jr., Nathaniel and Brianna; and numerous grandchildren. Her son, Brad Cleveland, and her granddaughter, Zoe Cleveland, are also deeply affected by her passing. Her sister, Marcie Black; brother-in-law, Larry Black and stepfather, Wilbur Johnson, already miss her immensely.

Kendra and Jameson Martinez, her niece and great-nephew, were also very close to their aunt and ache with the loss as well. Numerous other extended family and friends should be included on this list too, but you know who you are and we will hopefully see you all at the celebration of life, I’m sorry I can’t list you all!

The bottom line is that Tammy Cleveland was an extraordinary woman. A passionate, funny, creative, outspoken and beautiful soul. She will be missed more than words could express. The injustice of her being robbed from us so very young is counterbalanced with our assurance that she is spending an eternity in Heaven with the Lord!
