HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) — Bail was set at $2 million for a western Montana man charged with killing his girlfriend and his mother and shooting his father in the arm hours after authorities say his parents confronted him about his apparent use of illegal drugs.
Logan Dallas Christopher, 25, of Stevensville, appeared before Justice of the Peace Jennifer Ray on Thursday on two counts of deliberate homicide, attempted deliberate homicide and five counts of criminal endangerment, the Ravalli Republic reported. He did not enter a plea. Public defender Sarah Busch was not available Friday to comment, her office said.
Preliminary testing of Christopher's urine after his arrest found cocaine and THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, court records said.
Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fulbright called Tuesday evening's killing northeast of Stevensville “virtually an execution.”
Marisa Wahl, 25 — the mother of Christopher's two children — was shot in the back of the head at point-blank range, court records said. The couple's 11-month-old son, who was covered in blood but uninjured, was found crawling near his mother's body, charging documents said.
Christopher's mother, Tiffanie Greenslade, 47, was shot several times including while she was laying on the floor, an autopsy found.
Christopher is also charged with shooting his father, Noe Christopher, in the arm, and firing multiple shots at him as he ran away. Christopher led officers on a pursuit at speeds up to 130 mph (209 kph) before he crashed his car into a yard in Missoula and surrendered, authorities said.
Officers found a 9mm Berretta semi-automatic handgun and two boxes of ammunition in his car along with about $4,000 in cash. A safe found in the room where Wahl's body was discovered contained about $3,000 in cash and “significant quantities” of a white powdery substance, along with scales and packaging materials, charging documents said. The substance is being tested.
Noe Christopher told investigators that his son had accused him of “manipulating” and making him look bad. He said he was able to get the couple's 3-year-old daughter out of the fifth-wheel trailer, where Logan Christopher and Wahl had been living, before Greenslade was shot.
Logan Christopher refused to be interviewed by investigators, court records said.
