The June 2 primary election ballot will include one contested race and one uncontested race for two elected positions in Lincoln County – county commissioner, District 1, and clerk of district court.

The filing deadline for the primary was March 9.

In the county commissioner race, incumbent Republican Mark Peck will face a challenge from Republican Tony Berget. Commissioners serve six-year terms and Peck defeated Berget in a three-way primary race in 2014 to become the successful candidate in the general election. Peck currently serves as chairman and this would be his second term if re-elected.

Berget has served in years past as a county commissioner, as mayor of Libby and as a member of Libby City Council.

For the clerk of district court no one emerged to challenge incumbent Republican Tricia Brooks.

Brooks has worked in the clerk of court office since 2006. She was appointed clerk of district court in December 2016 and then elected to the office in 2017.

The base annual salary in Lincoln County for clerk of court is $56,122. The base annual salary for county commissioners is $58,122.
