Candidates file for election

The filing deadline last week for political office set up some primary races and general-election contests.
In House District 5, Republican Shawn Guymon and Republican Catherine Owens have both filed for the race and will face off in the June primary.
Incumbent Democrat Dave Fern is seeking re-election for his third term in the Montana Legislature.
Guymon ran for office as a Libertarian candidate in previous elections.
This is Owens’ first time seeking public office.
In Senate District 3, Democrat Guthrie Quist is looking to challenge Incumbent Republican Keith Regier.
Guthrie Quist is the son of former 2017 U.S. House candidate Rob Quist.
Regier has held the seat since 2017 after serving three terms in House District 5.
The primary election takes place on June 2 with the general election on Nov. 3.

Rehberg to attend rally for Jesus statue
Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg will attend a public rally in Whitefish on Nov. 10 in support of the World War II statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. Rehberg will be at the VFW Post 276 on Baker Avenue at 1 p.m.
