NEWPORT — Susan Schwartz, Director of Residential Care, and her staff gratefully accepted a donation of four new wheelchairs from the Pend Oreille County Knights of Columbus for residents at River Mountain Village Advanced Care.

According to Schwartz, the wheelchairs will assist residents who move in and may not have their own chairs yet. Occasionally, wheelchairs break and residents need a loaner chair while waiting for the new one. In 2003, the Knights of Columbus began participating in the ‘Global Wheelchair Mission’ and has since sponsored the delivery of nearly 60,000 wheelchairs throughout the world. Ed Zupich, Tom Garrett, Warren Foersch, and Bob Kirby, all members of the Pend Oreille County Knights of Columbus, delivered the generous gift.
