United Way Announces Coeur d'Alene Coronavirus Relief Fund

In coordination with community leaders representing the City of Coeur d’Alene, Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, Panhandle Health District, CDAIDE, St. Vincent de Paul, CDA School District 271, and Orchard Ridge Senior Living, United Way of North Idaho has established the CDA COVID-19 Relief Fund.
United Way is in frequent communication with Panhandle Health District’s Incident Command and Kootenai County Emergency Operations Center. The organization has also identified specific populations who may be the most vulnerable during these times.
“Thank you for the quick action of these community leaders and organizations for setting up a support mechanism and a process that will benefit the greater Coeur d’Alene citizens who will need our community support,” said City Administrator Troy Tymesen, City of Coeur d’Alene.
The fund will be used to help those most affected by this pandemic, including the dramatic decrease in work for local ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families.
The necessary steps to slow the transmission have included school closures and reduction in economic activity, which has a disproportionate impact on certain local population groups. United Way of North Idaho is also concerned about the health risks for seniors. For that reason, resources will be prioritized to organizations working directly with local population groups most affected. Those include the hospitality industry, vulnerable seniors, Pre-K and K-12 youth.
“Local United Ways across Idaho are working with Idaho Community Foundation on management of a statewide fund which has a regional fund to support Idaho’s five northern counties” said UWNI executive director Mark Tucker.

This will not be a public Request for Proposal, nor will funds be distributed to individuals.
