Shots were fired this morning in an officer involved shooting that took place on Grand Drive in Bigfork after the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office located the driver of a stolen vehicle. No injuries were reported and the incident is currently under investigation. The suspect is in custody, according to a social media post from the sheriff’s office.

Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino said a truck was stolen near Glacier Park International Airport Tuesday morning and law enforcement then engaged in a pursuit of the vehicle. Law enforcement was able to get the vehicle stopped in Bigfork and “from there, they started talking to her and shots were fired,” Heino said.

Law enforcement has blocked off an area on Grand Drive where the incident occurred and is advising people to stay out of the area.

This weekend, Martin City will awake from its winter slumber for a raucous weekend of racing, socializing and perhaps, more than a little imbibing. The 40th annual Cabin Fever Days includes events like the mountain man competition, arm wrestling tournament, snowshoe softball and even a kids pool tournament. But an account of the three-day mountain festival would be incomplete without mention of the barstool ski races, where contestants fly down a groomed hill on home-engineered contraptions affixed to a pair of skis.
